Reason for Night March 

Reclaim the Night name of the protest activity has covered several parts of Kolkata to gain justice against the murder with rape of a female doctor (PGT) during her night duty hours at R.G.Kar Medical College & Hospital (RGKMCH) in Kolkata on 9th August 2024. CBI has taken to investigate the secrets and tragedies of this brutal incident but no proper information has not been delivered to the honourable Supreme Court for proper justice. The hearing at the Supreme Court has also been delayed from today (5th September 2024) to further declaration.  The three suspectors along with Dr. Sandip Ghosh,  Afsar Ali Khan, personal assistant of Dr. Sandip Ghosh, Biplab Sinha, a vendor of this college and the owner of Maa Tara Traders along with Suman Hazra, a medical shop owner in Howrah region have already arrested under police custody from the CBI investigation.

Mode of Protests 

The people marched with burning candles, torches, and mobile phone torches. Senior and junior doctors participated in this protest, accompanied by the family members of “Tillotama”. The Bengal Junior Doctors’ Front invited all to this protest with naming “Let There Be Light, Let There Be Justice”. Through this slogan, they have expressed their disgraceful attitude regarding the postponement of the hearing in the Supreme Court today (5th September 2024). Several eminent physicians from  Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital and AIIMS carried out a march yesterday while holding candlelight.

Protest of Junior Doctors 

The junior doctors claimed regarding the resignation of Vineet Goyal, Chief of Kolkata Police.  They have protested against the declaration of the suicide of “Tilottama” to her family members, the delay in the FIR filing, and the comment of Dr. Sandip Ghosh for not being present alone in the Seminar Room of R.G. Kar Medical College. After their stay on the roads at Lalbazar for 19 hours, the Police commissioner agreed to meet with them and hear their demands. All anger, disgraceful attitudes, and disrespect have displayed in this night’s protest.
